Machine Man — "The Living Robot" — charges headlong through a scene of fire, debris, and shattered machinery on this November 1978 cover, flanked by two armed men closing in from either side while smoke and flames erupt around him. The cover tagline "Escape: Impossible!" sets a tense, urgent tone that pairs perfectly with the interior story title "Super-Escape." Jack Kirby's pencils and Bob Wiacek's inks give the whole scene a kinetic, hard-edged energy that makes this one of Marvel's more visually striking action covers of 1978.
