The second volume of Maankop brings together the singular creative pairing of writer Alejandro Jodorowsky and artist François Boucq, whose cover art places a bald, green-clad figure clinging dramatically to the twisted branches of a great tree while white birds take flight around him — and a small gathering of robed figures stands in the sandy clearing far below. Boucq's linework and coloring give the scene a dreamy, fable-like atmosphere that feels both grounded and otherworldly.
