“Plastic Explosives”

In "Plastic Explosives," the M.A.R.S. Patrol faces a deadly race against time when Admiral Danton orders the evacuation of San Francisco, resulting in the tragic death of Patricia Chen while she’s escorting orphans to safety. With the enemy’s hidden base suspected nearby, the team devises a daring plan—using concealed plastic explosives on captured war materiel to expose the invaders’ stronghold beneath Alcatraz Island. The resulting detonation reveals the truth, but before they can regroup, the M.A.R.S. men are urgently called to confront a new crisis in Washington, D.C. Written by Leo Dorfman and illustrated by Mike Roy with inks by Mike Peppe, the cover by George Wilson captures the tension of the moment.
