Lynd Ward[:] Gods' Man * Madman's Drum * Wild Pilgrimage #[nn]
"Gods' Man," a striking silent narrative by Lynd Ward, unfolds in stark, expressive woodcut art that defines its haunting tone. As a young man named Madman rises from obscurity through self-education, a mysterious piper follows him through life’s trials—until tragedy strikes with the execution of his son and the death of his daughter. In the end, Madman returns to his drum and walks away with the enigmatic piper. The cover by Lynd Ward complements the story’s somber, timeless mood.
