Lumberjanes: The Infernal Compass #[nn]
In "The Infernal Compass," the Lumberjanes face a mysterious challenge during an orienteering hike when an ancient compass begins to isolate them one by one. Each girl encounters a peculiar robot that tempts her with promises of direction—only to tie her up, leading to a surprising revelation about the machine’s creator, the reclusive explorer Dame Henrietta Boniface Nibley. Written by Lilah Sturges and brought to life with bold, expressive art by Polterink—pencils, inks, and colors all by the same hand—this issue blends whimsy and wonder in a story where even the most stubborn loner can learn to connect. The cover, also by Polterink, captures the eerie charm of the compass’s pull.

The Lumberjanes try orienteering, but one by one they are isolated by the infernal compass. Each meets a robot who tempts them, then ties them up. The robots are the creations of Dame Henrietta Boniface Nibley, an explorer who keeps getting lost and has concluded she needs no friends. Molly convinces her that the robots are, in fact, her friends. She frees the girls, and makes friends with them as well.
