Connie and her invalid mother accept distant cousin George’s offer to live in his mansion. George passes them off as wealthy socialites. Connie and Norman fall in love; George wants Norman to use his influence so that George’s nightclub license will be approved. Norman agrees, only because he thinks Connie comes from a respectable family. Connie discovers the club is a front for crooked gambling and tells Norman. The police raid the club but Norman breaks up with Connie, thinking she was in on the scam. However, Norman and Connie eventually reconcile.
