Doris, a book-keeper, is in love with her boss, but the other girls warn her that his business is his only interest. She decides to stay late one night to get some statements out of the way and Jim asks her to help him with the presses in back. After her assistance, he takes her out to dinner and asks her out for a date on Sunday. They have a wonderful day at the beach, but on Monday he doesn't even nod in her direction. On Friday when she opens her pay envelope, a pink slip falls out and she realizes she is being fired.
