On vacation in Mexico, Kathy meets Andre, a French refugee waiting for a visa to the USA. Kathy and Andre fall in love and marry. They move to the USA but Kathy’s family and friends are suspicious of Andre’s motives, and Kathy feels like an outside among Andre’s friends. They separate, then Kathy realises she really loves him. They are reunited, and Andre receives an award for his scientific work.
