Janet's parents, a famous actor manager and actress, had died six years ago in a plane crash. Janet tried to follow in their footsteps, but is a bad actress and is now broke. She returns to her childhood home, now owned by a steel tycoon. She applies for the job of housemaid, but the man's mother recognizes her and asks her to stay as a guest. Soon she is torn between her desire for the rich lifestyle of the Marshalls and her feelings for the man to works as the gardener/chauffeur/butler for the Marshalls.
