Cherry is telling Larry that they have no future together because she wants security she never had because of her gambling father. But Larry immediately runs to a phone booth and calls Steve. When all three get together, Larry tells them he needs a year to prove he can change. Since Steve owes Larry a favor for saving his life, he wants Steve to look after Cherry for a year and keep the wolves at bay until he gets back.
