Despite seeming to have everything, Avril is unhappy because she and her friends haven't achieved anything with their lives. She takes up an offer to visit a childhood friend in the village of Bintfield. But her friend's boyfriend doesn't seem to like her. Later Avril learns that she reminds him of another wealthy girl who had jilted the man's brother on their wedding day.
