Love Story Picture Library #459
"Off-Beat Highness" is a charming, offbeat tale from Love Story Picture Library #459 (1963), where aspiring Hollywood star Topaz stows away on a lifeboat she believes is headed to Los Angeles—only to wake up on a remote South Seas island after a storm strands her and the boat’s rower. With the elements cutting them off from the ship and the local natives mistaking her for a long-foretold goddess, her dream of stardom takes an unexpected turn. Illustrated with expressive detail by Enric Badía Romero, this quiet, whimsical story blends isolation, mistaken identity, and tropical mystery in a way that feels both timeless and uniquely of its era.

Topaz wants to be a Hollywood star and stows away in a lifeboat on a ship she thinks is bound for Los Angeles. She remains hidden under some canvas as the lifeboat is lowered into the water, but when it reaches land she finds she is actually on a South Seas island with the man who rowed the lifeboat ashore. Bad weather forces the ship to abandon them. When natives find them, they believe Topaz is the goddess whose coming was promised in their stories.
