Clair is convinced that Tony's novel is about her and she is furious about how the book portrays her relationship with Paul. As the daughter of a big chemical manufacturer, she has always gotten her way. To track down Paul, she decides to go to the Congo because that's where Paul's character goes in the book and she demands that Tony go along with her as insurance. Tony insists that the book is just from his imagination.
