She had adored J.C. Wimbush from afar for months. She tracks down where he lives and lies down outside his front door, pretending to be an accident victim in shock. But he wasn't at home and it was his mother who answered the door. Then, one day he was looking for some money he dropped and got his head stuck in the railing. He asked for help, but while she was fixing her lipstick before going to him, firemen arrived and freed him. While she contemplates having muffed a once-in-a-million chance, he reappears. He had dropped the ten pence deliberately to get to talk to her.
