Love Story Picture Library #1090
"Runaround" is a quiet, poignant tale from Love Story Picture Library #1090, a 1973 6p comic, capturing a fleeting moment of connection between Janie and Paul, a painter visiting her isolated island. Through tender, expressive art by Carlos Freixas, the story unfolds in gentle strokes as their shared walks along the shore deepen into something meaningful—until Paul’s mother arrives and gently challenges what they’ve built. The emotional weight lies in what’s left unsaid, and in Janie’s quiet resolve to honor what’s right, even when it hurts.

Janie sees few boys on her little island, but when she meets a painter from the mainland they start having walks along the beach. When the painter's mother comes to the island, she convinces Janie that the best thing for Paul would be to come back home where his work belongs. Janie realizes she is right and has to tell Paul the next morning that it will be their last walk together.
