When an old friend of her dead parents drowns, he leaves his old steamer, a motor-boat and two houses on Gannet Island to Lynn and her brother. Shortly after arriving, they find an old coded logbook and eventually discover that Captain Dean was looking for evidence of a smuggler's cave before he died.
