# Love Diary #24 "Cry Beauty, Cry" follows a beauty contest winner who strategically befriends famous film producer Martin Vann at an all-night diner by deliberately ordering his habitual dish, hoping to gain his attention. After impressing him with a screen test, she becomes his secretary but grows jealous when she realizes Vann shows romantic interest in another woman, Virginia, leading her to write a cruel letter claiming Virginia is a gold-digger to drive them apart. The plan backfires when Vann discovers the deception, and the protagonist loses both his professional opportunity and any chance at his love. A second story features a woman who encounters a charming skier named Hal Edwards at a ski slope and later reconnects with him at a dance hall, where they bond over music and he teaches her to dance, though she learns he is a taboo match for her and must ultimately let him go.
