Della hates living in Coalburg, where her fiancé Jim works in the mines. Al, a city slicker passing through, says Della should come to the big city with him. Della gives Jim an ultimatum: leave coal mining or lose her. When he refuses to quit, Della agrees to leave with Al. However, when there’s a mine accident, Della realises she’s a part of Coalburg and decides to stay and marry Jim.
