El Espadachín acepta por fin la oferta del Mandarín, y tras un engaño sofisticado entra en Los Vengadores con la intención de colocar una potente bomba en su cuartel general. Ya instalada, se arrepiente y al retirarla es sorprendido por los demás. Hay una pelea, se anula la bomba y el Espadachín huye desacreditado y lamentando no poder volver con ellos.
