“El Guardián Rojo”

"El Guardián Rojo" introduces a chilling ideological counterpart to Captain America in a Cold War-era tale that pulses with tension. Written by Roy Thomas and F. Sesén, with dynamic art by John Buscema and George Roussos, this 1971 issue sees Mercury testing his newfound speed, the Wasp stepping into her inheritance, and Hawkeye joining Hercules in a rescue mission—just as the Red Guardian is unveiled in Asia, poised to challenge the Avengers on a global stage. The cover by López Espí captures the era’s bold, dramatic flair.
