This anthology issue contains three stories featuring Long Bow and Native American adventures. "Slaves of the Senecas" depicts a conflict during the French and English war, where a Seneca chief named Pequoia brings news to Mohawk brothers that French forces are marching from the north to conquer the region, and a wrestling match is arranged between young warriors Kitsipon and Ingrona to settle a dispute. "Sun Magic" shows the Blackfoot tribes gathering for their sacred Sun Dance ceremony while warriors prepare for a Flathead raiding party attack on their village, with Long Bow and others racing to warn the tribe in time to defend their horses and people.

The Orphans of Ambush Island
7 pp

When Long Bow and his friend Foxfoot are swept downriver during a buffalo hunt, they wash ashore on an island where a group of white orphans holds them captive—survivors of a wagon train attack orchestrated by ruthless white scouts. Torn between self-preservation and conscience, the orphans' leader Jennifer must decide whether to trust the Blackfeet boys or silence them forever. Long Bow's fate and Jennifer's choice will determine whether betrayal or honor carries the day.

Slaves of the Senecas

When a Seneca chief and his war party arrive to broker an alliance during the French and English conflict, a young white slave named Walter seizes a desperate chance to save his lame sister Mary from the coming bloodshed. With help from Little Fox, a Mohawk boy with a debt of kindness, Walter must race against time to warn the Mohawk village of the impending attack and decide where his true loyalties lie in a war that threatens to consume them all.

The Wild-Horse Caller
4 pp

Long Bow and his companion Foxfoot have long wondered about the mysterious horse caller who seems to possess an uncanny ability to summon wild herds from the prairie—until the night of a crucial tribal council, when the stranger's help forces them to question everything they thought they knew about his strange medicine. What begins as a test of their totem's will transforms into a puzzle that only patience and careful observation can solve.

The Haunted Trail
4 pp

Long Bow and Foxfoot's scheme to swipe a roasted quail from Big Paunch lands them in a sacred Blackfoot burial mound—where they discover the legendary skeletal remains of great chiefs said to rise and protect their people. When Crow raiders threaten the village maidens the next day, the young hunters must decide whether the old stories hold any truth.

Sun Magic
5 pp

When Flathead raiders attack the defenseless Blackfoot village during the sacred Sun Dance ceremony, young Long Bow and his friend Foxfoot race to intercept them and signal the distant warriors. Using ingenuity and courage—including a clever sun mirror to flash messages across the canyons—the two boys help turn the tide against the invaders and earn their place among the tribe's brave men.
