A lone gunman dominates this striking 2018 opening volume from Le Lombard — long-haired, duster-clad, and rifle in hand, he stares out from a windswept, snow-dusted frontier landscape with quiet, weathered resolve. The pentagram emblem above the Lonesome title adds an intriguing, almost ominous undercurrent to what already feels like a richly atmospheric Western. Yves Swolfs, handling both the writing and the artwork, brings a painterly intensity to "Het spoor van de predikant" that makes this first chapter impossible to put down.
