Little Max Comics #20

This issue is an anthology featuring two main stories. In the first story illustrated by Ham Fisher, Little Max puts on a "Wild Animal Show" parade that descends into chaos when a marching band and military troops collide, creating a cacophony of crashes and mayhem before Max is awarded a medal for the "most sensational exhibition." The second story, titled "Sad Slim Jim," follows a character named Jim who struggles with school and work until he takes a three-week mail-order "Speed Course" in dynamic energy and strength, which apparently transforms his life and lands him a job with Joe Bonomo. The issue also includes a separate "Happy Birthday" story about Little Max forgetting his birthday, attempting to reserve a restaurant table, and causing a comedic scene before being invited to a formal party. The magazine is filled with advertisements and promotions for strength-building courses and other children's products.
