Lion Annual 1955 is an anthology containing at least two stories. "The Unmasking of Zanu the Witch-Doctor" by Hugh Tempest follows district commissioner Dan Carstairs in the Leopard Hills area of Africa, who investigates mysterious disappearances of warriors reportedly caused by a witch-doctor named Zanu. Dan, accompanied by Toga and native warriors, ventures into the hills to confront Zanu and discover what has truly happened to the missing men. The second featured story involves characters Don and Nobby, who undertake a dangerous underwater mission involving a fjord and submarine defenses, attempting to retrieve or disable a torpedo while evading German sentries and a gunboat.
