Lion #85 is an anthology issue featuring "Captain Condor—Space-Man Avenger" by Frank S. Pepper, in which the space pilot Captain Condor leads a daring escape from a dictator's forces by piloting a patrol boat equipped with an infra-red beam apparatus through an asteroid field while being pursued; the story concludes with a mysterious figure in an iron mask preparing to strike at the Queen. The issue also contains "The Amazing Adventures of Mr X" by Edwin Dale, a prose narrative about a hunter in the Nigerian hinterland who encounters hostile Yakka natives, a witch-doctor named Garu-Kha, and discovers the Yakka tribe's use of a powerful drug called dagga to transform themselves into hyenas.
