At police headquarters, Lash vows to continue raiding their joints until he captures the ringleaders. In another story, criminals set fires backstage at a theater during a show, attempting to steal costumes, but the plot is foiled when a character named Marvio helps extinguish the flames. "Hap Hazard" follows a newspaper copyboy from the Daily Star who investigates counterfeit cigars being sold at a store, discovering a bad ten-spot bill mixed in the change—a clue to a larger criminal operation.
