Li'l Genius #48

This Charlton charmer from 1964 puts Li'l Genius in the middle of a very awkward hunting trip — the cover by Jon D'Agostino shows a flustered hunter in a red plaid shirt hollering "Ollie!" as his shotgun blast goes hilariously off-course, while the little purple-capped Ollie himself looks up with a wide-eyed "Uh-oh!" as ducks scatter into the sky above them. D'Agostino's loose, expressive linework wrings every drop of comedy out of the moment, capturing that perfect beat just before things go further sideways. At just 12 cents, this is a fine slice of lighthearted 1964 funny-pages fun.
