“Only for a Week”

A snowy ski slope sets the stage for some gloriously misguided canine education in this 1962 Charlton charmer. Jon D'Agostino's cover captures Li'l Genius wielding a mail-order dog-training booklet while a massive, stubbornly planted hound refuses to budge — much to the dismay of another kid being dragged along on skis — with the dog's "Ski Patrol" tag adding a perfect comic touch. As a bonus, the issue dangled a real-world contest offering readers a free trip to Hollywood to watch American-International's Off on a Comet being made, making this a genuinely fun slice of early-'60s kids' comics.
