“How Discouraging!”

The bowling alley becomes pure chaos on this cover, where a dark-haired kid has been yanked right off his feet by a bowling ball that refuses to leave his hand — and at the bottom, the red-haired Li'l Genius stands nearby clutching an open jar of GLUE with a mischievous grin that says everything. Frank Johnson's cartooning is wonderfully expressive here, wringing maximum slapstick from a simple premise with clean, energetic linework perfectly suited to Charlton's June 1960 humor lineup.
