The beloved Belgian series Les Tuniques Bleues reaches its 59th volume with "Les quatre évangélistes," brought to life once again by the enduring creative partnership of writer Raoul Cauvin and artist Willy Lambil. The cover, drawn and inked by Lambil, sets a wonderfully unhurried tone: a stern figure dressed in black rides a plodding mule along a rocky path, while a scruffy, bemused-looking character watches from behind a tree. It's a scene full of that trademark gentle humor the series does so well — quiet on the surface, but clearly on the verge of something entertaining.
