The fifteenth volume of Les Gendarmes arrives with a chaotic scene straight off the cover: two hapless gendarmes are sprawled across the roof of their blue Gendarmerie van while a startled dog skids helplessly across the road below, all rendered in the series' signature broad, elastic cartoon style by Jenfèvre, Sulpice, and Cazenove. Subtitled Les toutous flingueurs ("The Trigger-Happy Pooches"), this 2016 Bamboo Édition entry promises the kind of slapstick misadventure that has made this long-running French comedy series a staple of bande dessinée humor. Fans of gendarmerie buffoonery and four-legged troublemakers will feel right at home.
