A wonderfully absurd scene sets the tone for this French gendarme comedy series from Bamboo Édition: a lone officer sits obliviously reading in a spotlight while a crowd of his uniformed colleagues crowds the doorway behind him — and a pair of black-clad ninja burglars lurks in the shadows at the window. Jenfèvre and Sulpice deliver broad, cheerful humor with a clean ligne claire style that immediately signals this series is here to have fun at the gendarmerie's expense. A fine starting point for fans of French-Belgian humor comics, Flagrant Délire ! launched the series with charm to spare in 1998.
