“Fitting In”

The cover of Legionnaires #53 frames its team-in-transition premise perfectly: divided into three bold triangular panels, it shows a dejected blond Legionnaire slumped to one side ("One's OUT"), a powerfully built green-skinned hero in purple and cream striding forward confidently ("One's IN"), and a red-haired woman in a crimson costume launching through the air with fiery energy blazing from her hands — the cover cheekily asking "…and who the heck is THIS?!?" Cover pencils by Jeffrey Moy and inks by W. C. Carani give the composition real energy, and the story title "Fitting In" hints that membership and identity are very much on the table. A fun snapshot of the Legion roster in flux from DC's 1997 lineup.
