Legion Lost #9
A blonde Legionnaire in the foreground, her expression tense and guarded, is surrounded by a swirling pink psychic tableau of her teammates' faces — a striking visual that makes the "Mind Games" story title feel entirely apt. The cover by Olivier Coipel (pencils) and Andy Lanning (inks) captures the isolation and mental strain that defined this critically admired 2001 DC series, with the team rendered as ghostly, almost ethereal presences adrift in some unseen mindscape. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's writing, paired with Pascal Alixe's interior art, made Legion Lost one of the more thoughtful superhero books of its era, and this ninth issue looks every bit as atmospheric as the series' reputation suggests.
