Apr 2001 · DC · 2.50 USD; 4.25 CAD
“First & Last”

In "First & Last," the Legion of Super-Heroes faces a desperate race against time as Saturn Girl attempts to regain control of the increasingly unstable Element Lad, whose mind is unraveling under the strain of cosmic forces. With the doorway to their galaxy threatening to collapse, the team must decide how to close it—before the merged entity of Element Lad and the Omniphagos proves too much to contain. Art by Olivier Coipel and Andy Lanning brings the emotional and cosmic stakes to life, with colors by Tom McCraw and lettering by Comicraft.

Realizing the depth of Element Lad's insanity, Saturn Girl takes control of his mind while the rest of the team makes plans to seal the doorway to their own galaxy, hopefully with them on the other side. Though Element Lad is momentarily distracted by the Omniphagos, and they become one merged entity, the Legion may not be able to close the doorway in time, until one of their own seemingly makes the ultimate sacrifice.
