Ramm et sa bande sont en prison. Reppoc est le seul a être libéré sous caution. Mais à peine sorti il donne au Capitaine Brandon la clé que lui a confié Ramm. Il pense qu'il s'agit de la clé du coffre qui contient tous ses papiers dont la liste de ses victimes et des clubs qu'il protège. Ramm qui l'avait caché dans son soulier et voulait la faire parvenir à son frère pour qu'il détruise les papiers est furieux. Une fois hors de sa vue, Reppoc enlève son maquillage. Il s'agissait en fait de Dick Tracy que tout le monde croyait mort. Son ami prévient tous ses proches de l'incroyable nouvelle.
