Lancelot #2
The second volume of this Belgian Arthurian series, subtitled "Iweret," opens with a brooding cover image that sets a fittingly dark tone: a white-bearded, hooded sorcerer strides forward among mist-shrouded standing stones, staff in hand, as lightning splits the storm-laden sky behind him. The Celtic knotwork framing the title and the ancient runes carved into the megaliths speak to the deep mythological atmosphere that writers Jean-Luc Istin and artist Alexe are drawing from. With Élodie Jacquemoire's moody color palette turning the scene a cold, spectral grey-blue, this 2012 album promises a rich, atmospheric journey into Arthurian legend.
