Lance O'Casey, a seafaring adventurer, encounters three sneaks aboard an old pirate ship who have replaced the black powder in the cannon with his high-powered substitute as a prank. Later, O'Casey meets Nina Murdock, a famous girl pilot who has been held captive on the ship. A captain recounts how his ship was wrecked in a storm off Antarctica, where he discovered barrels of gold and jewels salvaged from a wreck—treasure that belonged to descendants of ancient English colonists, the "Ice People," who have inhabited the region for centuries. O'Casey and his companions must recover this wealth and prevent the prehistoric inhabitants from reclaiming it.
