The five-issue miniseries from Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden reaches its conclusion with a cover by Abigail Larson that crackles with tension — a sword-wielding figure faces a towering dark entity wrestling with gnarled, dead branches, while a woman in a sweeping red dress rises above the fray and a shadowy figure lurks in the bare tree overhead. Larson's atmospheric palette of dusty ochres and stormy greens gives the whole scene a haunted, folkloric weight that perfectly suits this world of witchcraft and supernatural danger.
