L'Uomo Ragno Gigante #54

Dec 1980 · Editoriale Corno

In this 1980 Italian classic, Spider-Man finds himself caught in a supernatural trap when Xandu hijacks his powers to steal a mystical crystal from Dr. Strange’s sanctum. With their abilities stripped away and teleported to a hostile dimension, the unlikely duo must swap powers—Strange wielding Spider-Man’s agility, and Spidey tapping into arcane magic—to survive. A haunting twist follows, as Strange confronts the limits of his magic in a moment of tragic consequence. Written by Len Wein, with dynamic art by Sal Buscema and inks by Frank Giacoia and Dave Hunt, and a striking cover by Gil Kane and John Romita, this issue blends cosmic stakes with emotional weight.

Xandu uses Spider-Man to break into Dr. Strange's home and steal a crystal, which he then uses to recreate the Wand of Watoomb. When Spidey and Doc Strange attempt to battle Xandu, he teleports them to another dimension and causes their powers to cease working. Strange casts a spell that allows him to use Spidey's powers and Spidey to use magic and the pair take down Xandu. Dr. Strange tries to resurrect Xandu's love Melinda, but finds that she is completely dead.
