The second volume of Jean-Marc van Tol's Dutch humor series arrives with the gloriously chaotic subtitle Opgepeuzeld! ("Gobbled Up!"), and the cover delivers exactly that energy. A glowing blue genie looms at the center of a cave packed wall-to-wall with fairy-tale archetypes — a witch with a cauldron and broomstick, a Snow White figure, dwarves in pointed hats, a bearded king, a Robin Hood type, a dark wizard, and many more, all crowded together in delightfully cramped cartoon fashion. Van Tol's loose, expressive line work turns this mash-up of familiar fantasy characters into a wonderfully absurd ensemble that promises sharp, witty strips inside.
