“Konga Meets the Creatures From Beyond Space”

In "Konga Meets the Creatures From Beyond Space," the title ape dives deep to escape destruction, only to face a giant octopus before washing ashore on a remote island—just as a fleet of alien invaders descends. These towering, carrot-skinned beings, hailing from a dying world where plant life evolved into sentient species, launch an assault on Earth with the goal of eliminating all mammals. Written by Joe Gill and illustrated by Steve Ditko, with cover art by Ditko, this 1962 Charlton issue delivers a surreal, pulpy clash of titans—Konga versus an alien race that’s as bizarre as it is menacing.

Konga survives the depth charges from the previous issue by diving deep into the Ocean. After defeating a giant octopus, he comes ashore on a tropical island just as aliens land in their ship. These aliens (house sized beings with orange carrot-like skin, large biceps and calves, and who wear black skull caps) are from a planet where the dominant species evolved from vegetables. They are attacking Earth because their homeworld is dying due to their sun burning out and plan on destroying all mammals on Earth. That is until Konga destroys them and their ship.
