“The Eye of the Serpent!”

DC's 1976 villain showcase reaches a fever pitch with Kobra #5, whose cover — penciled by Rich Buckler and inked by Frank McLaughlin — puts the scale-skinned, caped Kobra front and center, lunging forward through a burst of flames with unmistakable menace. The tagline says it all: "If he can't conquer the world — he'll destroy it!" Three portrait medallions along the left side remind us that only these men stand in his way, making the stakes feel genuinely dire. It's a bold, dynamic issue from DC's mid-seventies line that makes a strong case for Kobra as one of the era's most compelling threats.
