Kings Quest #5

The fifth and final issue of Dynamite's 2016 crossover brings together three of King Features' most enduring heroes in a striking cover by Marc Laming — two purple-clad Phantom figures (one armed with a pistol) stand at the fore, while a caped, dark-suited Mandrake the Magician looms behind them, both glowing hands raised against a swirling, smoke-filled background. The trio radiates a sense of hard-won resolve, like heroes who've been through the wringer and are still standing. Written by Ben Acker and Heath Corson with interior art by Bob Q, this is a satisfying capstone to a series that delights in proving old-school adventure heroes still have plenty of fire left in them.
