Kingpin #4
Part crime drama, part surveillance footage — this fourth issue of Matthew Rosenberg's 2017 series frames Wilson Fisk in a deeply unsettling way. The cover by Jeff Dekal depicts Kingpin standing amid a devastated dining room, his immaculate white suit flecked with blood, scattered guns and spent shell casings littering the floor around him, a small coffee cup held almost casually in one massive fist — and he looks utterly unbothered. The "Running with the Devil" story arc and the REC indicator overlaid on the image give the whole scene the queasy intimacy of security camera footage, making it one of the more quietly menacing cover compositions of 2017.
