John Porcellino's King-Cat Classix collects the beloved self-published zine work of one of underground comics' most quietly affecting voices, presented here by Drawn & Quarterly in 2007. The cover, rendered entirely by Porcellino in his signature spare, golden linework, offers a close-up portrait of a young figure alongside loose, impressionistic foliage — simple and meditative in the way only his work can be. If you've never spent time with King-Cat, this is a wonderfully inviting place to start.
