“Where's My $#%&ing Cheerios?”

DC Focus's Kinetic was one of 2004's more grounded superhero offerings, and issue #5 makes a striking impression with Warren Pleece's cover depicting a determined young man — Tom, apparently, given the carved "Tom Loves Angela" graffiti behind him — driving his fist forward with explosive, shattering force. A watchful female figure looms in the background, lending the image a charged emotional undercurrent that pairs perfectly with Kelley Puckett's sharp, street-level storytelling sensibility.
