Kinetic #3
Part of DC's early-2000s Focus imprint, this July 2004 issue from writer Kelley Puckett pairs with a striking cover by Tomer Hanuka that sets an immediately unsettling tone. A young man lies on what appears to be a medical table — shirtless, wired up, and wide-eyed with alarm — while a green-haired woman with a glowing mark on her forehead looms over him with an outstretched hand, as a figure in orange looks on. Interior artist Warren Pleece brings the story "Stupid Pretty" to life, making this an intriguing chapter in one of DC's more grounded superhero experiments of the era.
