The masked vigilante crouches low on the cover of issue five, clad in a dark hoodie with a red face covering and gloved hands gripping a shotgun — the city's rooftops and fire escapes bleeding crimson behind him. Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips continue their crime noir series with the same moody intensity that's made it one of Image's most compelling ongoing titles of 2017. Elizabeth Breitweiser's red-drenched palette gives the whole image an unsettling urgency that perfectly matches the series' razor-edged premise.
