Kill or Be Killed #10

Sean Phillips's cover for this tenth issue of Ed Brubaker and Elizabeth Breitweiser's crime-noir series is a striking image: a massive, horned demon figure looms against a fiery red sky above a small, defiant Statue of Liberty, the contrast between the two creating an unsettling sense of scale and dread. The bold graphic design — that blazing crimson background, the cool blue-green of the statue — gives the whole thing an almost propagandistic punch that's hard to shake. If you've been following this series through 2017, issue #10 makes a compelling visual argument that the stakes have never felt larger.
